Google Maps Setup Guide Step by Step

Google Maps is  a powerful mapping service that can be used to create a website or app. However, setting it up can be complicated, especially if you’re not familiar with the Google Maps API. This guide will walk you through the basics of setting up a Google Maps account and using its map APIs.

Google Maps Setup Guide Eight Simple Steps

To get started, you’ll first need to create a Google Maps account. Once you’ve created an account, you can set up your website or app to use the maps API.

1. Sign in to your Google Maps account.

2. On the left side of the main page, click “Your Account.”

3. Under “Website & App Activity,” select “Add a Site or App.”

4. Type in the name of your website or app, and click “Create.”

5. On the next page, under “Maps Services,” click “Create a New Maps Service.”

6. Under “Name” (the name that will appear in Google search results), type in a description of your map service, and click “Create.”

7. You’ll now be directed to the settings page for your new map service. Underneath “Access & Permissions,” make sure that only “Authorized Users” have access to your map service’s APIs and settings (see below for more information). If you don’t want anyone but authorized users able to see your map service’s data, consider using a secure protocol such as OAuth 2 . Finally, under “Usage Data,” make sure that any usage data you collect from users is turned on (this will include their latitude/longitude coordinates). Save your changes by clicking “Save Changes.”

8. To start using the map APIs from your website or app, sign in to your Google Maps account and click on the hamburger menu in the top right corner of any page (see image below). From here, select “Maps” and then select your newly created map service from the list of services. You’re now ready to start mapping!
